Clear motorcycle TMS visor problem?

I recently bought a TMS motorcycle (fullface) helmet and when I got it in the mail there was this very thin layer of clear plastic over the visor. I was able to get most of it off but on the edges it's nearly impossible to get off. Ive tapped packaging tape on it for hours with little success. The tape also left behind some of the sticky residou. It's not sticky anymore so DW-40 won't work. Does anyone know how to get this stuff off without scratching or ruining the visor?
