How do I get the screen to stop cutting during displaying my computer on my TV?

I have a macbook pro and display it on my LG 37" tv and i connect it via a VGA display port with an HDMI cord. When I play movies on my TV, the screen cuts and then goes back, does anyone know how to make it not cut?
