How to unlock and ATT phone so that it can be used with Straight Talk?

My friend broke there phone. Someone gave them an AT&T LG phone. The keypad on the phone was locked so he purchased and unlock code via the net. The code when entered unlocked the keypad but is still locked to the AT&T network. What can be done to make the changes needed to the phone?
